Should I Vaccinate My Children? Question 1

First big question of the blog:

Should I vaccinate my children?

should i vaccinate, vaccinations are bad, are vaccinations bad, is it good to vaccinate, new-start, newstart, dr mozingo, trent mozingo, evidence based medicine, who should get vaccinations, which vaccinations are bad, autism, autism and vaccinations, do vaccinations cause autism.I am going to start this post by making it clear that I do not have any children, so, I understand that it is easy to tell me that I cannot possibly understand what it feels like to make that decision.  I am in no way trying to persuade you either way, I am simply an unbiased writer helping everyone to be informed.

Let’s talk about that though. I commonly hear the remark; you just don’t understand what it feels like to make that decision for your child, someone you have bared, etc. All this is telling me is that most of us in the US have decided the choice of vaccination or no vaccination is up to an emotional driven decision instead of a factual one, based on research.

“But the doctor told me this. The pediatrician told me that,” etc. There isn’t anyone that wants to tell you not to listen to your doctor, not me, not anyone, but you do not have to take their advice as the golden rule, end all beat all, no possible reason to look elsewhere, or get a second opinion. You have to be as much a part of your health as anyone. So, I encourage second opinions, doing your homework, and getting answers that you truly believe in.

At the end of the day, everyone wants to do what is absolutely best for their children. That I can understand, even if I am not a parent. So, to answer the question, as a non-parent, holistic health physician, and avid researcher, here goes.

In my opinion (see what I did there) I feel like the vaccine schedule is too intense. Too many vaccines at one time. Too many administered at too young of an age. But that is just my opinion, I will accept any criticism for that.

Let’s start talking facts.

Do vaccines work?

You are going to find a plethora of studies that show how vaccines have eradicated some very serious diseases, and at the same time, if you look deeper, you will find that simply natural selection has eradicated these diseases.

You will hear how autism is being expressed in children that get vaccines due to mercury and preservatives in the vaccine. Then you will hear about studies being shown that this is impossible.
It is nearly impossible to find the empirical evidence that you need to make the right decision, right?
Fibromyalgia treatment, restless leg syndrome treatment, diabetes treatment, how to treat diabetes, how to lose weight, how to treat fibromyalgia, Columbus fibromyalgia, Columbus diabetes treatment, treat inflammation in Columbus, Columbus inflammation clinic, Get healthy in Columbus, Columbus health clinic, Columbus wellness clinic, heartburn treatment in Columbus, dr trent mozingo, dr moz, chiropractor in Columbus, Columbus chiropractic, chiropractic care in Columbus

As an avid researcher, I feel it is important to analyze the integrity of the research itself. Who funded it? Who stands to benefit from the outcomes of the study? Is there any way the data is skewed to ensure such an outcome that is beneficial for those who have funded it and stand to make a profit from it? This is where I find it hard to trust any evidence that is funded by the pharmaceutical industry. They stand to make $$BILLIONS$$ of dollars if the vaccine schedule seems effective. They are directly building a case to sell their products.

Then I look at the research that comes up with the latter of the terms. They show how vaccines are not working as it seems. They show how the decline in the diseases that are ever so boastfully acclaimed by the vaccine producing studies is simply a form of natural selection. So, I have to ask myself, what do these researchers have to gain for this work and information? I struggle to find a monetary gain. I struggle to see a power gain. I also struggle to see any reason for them to write this to falsely hurt the health of the people around them. Let’s face it. A non-biased company is not going to write about how vaccines are unnecessary if they actually are. They have no reason to try and discredit something that will ultimately keep you from contracting a major illness? Right?

So, I continue to look at the big picture. I dig deeper.

I am sure you have seen the epic amount of news articles about whistle blowers from the CDC discussing how they have corruptively hidden evidence of mercury toxicity from vaccines linking to autism. The struggle is finding this research. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT. So, in order to keep writing in evidence based way, I can only write about what I have found.

Have you heard of The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program?

Well it seems in 1988, the vaccine industry was struggling to make enough profit to compensate for the claims of harm done, so they created an excise tax on vaccines that gets paid to the CDC indirectly for these claims.

Since then, that value for the CDC has risen to over $3.4 BILLION. That seems like a conflict of interest to me, but hey, who knows?

So, do vaccines work?

Again, it is difficult to give an empirical answer to that. Studies show they do, studies show they don’t. But what I do know is this. Since the outbreak of measles from Disneyland, it does seem to be alarming that a percentage of those that contracted measles were of the vaccinated population… Yes, some of the spreading of measles has gone to the vaccinated population. So, does the vaccine work, maybe, does it not work, yes it seems so... You are probably not going to hear the exact numbers or percentages of those contracting measles which are vaccinated or not, because simply, the US, CDC, pharmaceutical world doesn’t want you to hear that vaccinated kids can get measles. Hmm.

Let’s move on.  Have you ever heard of Atypical Measles?

To quote Medicinenet.com

“Atypical measles syndrome (AMS): An altered expression of measles, AMS begins suddenly with high fever, headache, cough, and abdominal pain. The rash may appear 1 to 2 days later, often beginning on the limbs. Swelling (edema) of the hands and feet may occur. Pneumonia is common and may persist for 3 months or more.
AMS occurs in persons who were incompletely immunized against measles. This may happen if a person were given the old killed-virus measles vaccine (which does not provide complete immunity and is no longer available); or the person were given attenuated (weakened) live measles vaccine that was, by accident, inactivated during improper storage. Immunization with inactivated measles virus does not prevent measles virus infection. It can, however, sensitize a person so that the expression of the disease is altered, resulting in AMS.
Being atypical, AMS can be confused with other entities including Rocky Mountain spotted fever, meningococcal infection, various types of pneumonia, appendicitis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, etc.”
More alarming, is when you find out that encephalitis is a common symptom of measles and atypical measles, and now there is a dominant link to children with autism and also having encephalitis. Again, no empirical evidence to confirm this finding has anything to do with vaccines.
To clear this up, it seems that the MMR is not going to guarantee you will not contract measles if exposed. If you get the MMR there is a chance you will contract Atypical Measles from the vaccine itself, which can lead to encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) and that is linked to autism in children. Again, these are just facts from the reading above. I am in no way trying to just attack the MMR vaccine, or measles in this writing, but the current outbreak does bring it to top of mind. The flu vaccine is another dandy, which is also on the schedule for vaccines according to the CDC for children under 1 year old.
Back to the main question at hand. Should I vaccinate my children?
This is an answer that only you can decide. I am unbiased. I can find research that shows how magnificent they are (with a blind eye on whom funded it) and I can find research that shows how devastating they can be.
But what would I do? (This is my opinion, take it or leave it)

As I said, I do not have any children of my own at this time. But, my children will be vaccinated on a
Fibromyalgia treatment, restless leg syndrome treatment, diabetes treatment, how to treat diabetes, how to lose weight, how to treat fibromyalgia, Columbus fibromyalgia, Columbus diabetes treatment, treat inflammation in Columbus, Columbus inflammation clinic, Get healthy in Columbus, Columbus health clinic, Columbus wellness clinic, heartburn treatment in Columbus, dr trent mozingo, dr moz, chiropractor in Columbus, Columbus chiropractic, chiropractic care in Columbus
very different schedule, if any. I will never allow a combined MMR vaccine to be administered, it is just too much. The more research I do, and the more it seems that vaccines are a danged if you don’t, more danged if you do scenario, I would say that I will do the latter. I am not a fan of putting a chemical, dead virus, inoculated pathogen, whatever, into the bloodstream of my future children unless I know that there is a 100% chance of no failure or complications. Considering the CDC has $3.4Billion in a compensation program, I am worried. Instead, I will promote a healthy immune system in my children. Help them build strong immune systems, ready to fight incoming pathogens. I plan to do this by providing healthy foods instead of processed junk. I will be sure they take a probiotic and eat fermented foods like sauerkraut. It is all too often that I hear parents discussing how difficult it is to get their children to eat healthy. This is an epidemic of itself. We will discuss that later in a future blog.

As a Board Certified Chiropractor, I spend a lot of time tying to explain the changes that the profession has made. As any profession, technology improves, research tightens, and clinical results are evident. With this innovation to the field of chiropractic, I am proud to say that I stay abreast the most current findings and research to provide the most cutting edge, and effective form of chiropractic care that Columbus, Indiana has to offer. I hope I help you gain some understand of what the therapy at New-Start Health Center entails.

To start this blog series, I want you to think about this first question?

Have you ever wondered what the top reasons that Americans seek medical attention?
The MayoClinic released a study to figure that exact thing out.

Here are the following results of the study if you do not wish to read the whole thing...

1. Skin disorders, including cysts, acne and dermatitis.
2. Joint disorders, including osteoarthritis.
3. Back problems.
4. Cholesterol problems.
5. Upper respiratory conditions.
6. Anxiety, bipolar disorder and depression.
7. Chronic neurologic disorders.
8. High blood pressure.
9. Headaches and migraines.
10. Diabetes.

Two of the top three conditions that drive us into a medical office are joint pains, and back problems. Typical medical practices for these conditions are:

  • Steroid medications
  • Steroid injections
  • Muscle relaxers
  • Pain medications
  • NSAIDs
The issue I struggle with is discussing the efficacy, or effectiveness of this medical practice. The simple reason we seek medical attention for these conditions is PAIN RELIEF!!

Well, lets be honest, we also want to make sure that it is cost effective to relieve that pain. Spending a fortune on repeated steroid injections is not that appealing.

Well, as I stated before, I stay on top of the research that shows true improvements in treatment options for conditions like back pain,  neck pain, Fibromyalgia, etc.

I understand that most are not interested in reading these long winded studies, so I have just scoured the internet for some facts that will help.

From WEBMD.com Click here to read the entire article

Costs Down, Patient Satisfaction Up With Chiropractic CareCompared with doctor-only health plans, the study found that:

  • Chiropractic care cut the cost of treating back pain by 28%.
  • Chiropractic care reduced hospitalizations among back pain patients by 41%.
  • Chiropractic care reduced back surgeries by 32%.
  • Chiropractic care reduced the cost of medical imaging, such as X-rays or MRIs, by 37%

As you can see, it is not hard to understand how effective and life changing chiropractic care can be. It is just a hidden secret to most.

Evidence-Based Chiropractic is the future of this profession. We treat pain symptoms with more time and effectiveness than traditional forms of chiropractic care. It is an integration within the medical community to stop bantering back and forth about the potential dangers of each. It is about unifying our medical community, making sure the one goal is in order, patient care.

There are many Americans that deal with back and neck pain every single day with little to zero hope of it going away. Maybe they mask the symptoms with medications. Maybe they have had a bad experience with traditional chiropractic. Maybe they have underwent an unsuccessful surgery.

There is hope. A clear understanding of the biomechanical functions within the body, is what all physicians need to have to attack this epidemic of back and neck pain.

After all, it is 2 of the top 3 reasons we seek medical attention.

To make it simple, Chiropractic Can Help. It has been proven to do so.

Doctors that listen, Care

new-start, newstart, wellness columbus, columbus indiana wellness, columbus chirorpactor, columbus chiropractic center, chiropractor columbus, dr mozingo, dr moz, dr trent mozingo, dr trent. alyssa williams, amy hundley.symp·tom
n.
A subjective indication of a disorder or disease, such as pain, nausea, or weakness

The current medical system has set itself up in a way to minimize the amount of time a physician spends with a patient. It is a simple concept. Too many sick people, too many cases, and not enough time for doctors to cover them all.

Unfortunately this has led our health status into a melting pot of undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, over tested, under analyzed patients. So many physicians do not have time to spend taking a thorough history, so instead of listening to the concerns and complaints of a patient, and going through all of the symptomatology that the patient presents with, it is common to order an excessive amount of unnecessary tests to come up with a diagnosis.

While attending Palmer College of Chiropractic, I learned the most valuable thing about being a physician.

80% of our diagnosis should come from the history of the patient. We need to speak to patients for as long as it takes to come up with a very concise decision that supports the indication to do additional testing.

If you look back at the top of this article, you will see that the very definition of a symptom explains it perfectly. Symptoms are a SUBJECTIVE indication of a disease or dysfunction. Listen to what the patient is saying, but more importantly understand how the body works so you can utilize the information that is given during a thorough history.

The process of coming up with an accurate diagnosis of a patient starts with a physician’s understanding of the human body. There is absolutely no cookie cutter flow chart to be followed that will work on every single patient. Certain dysfunctions can be expressed differently in every patient, but you have to dig deeper.

When a patient discusses a symptom, it is just the tip of the iceberg. You have to know everything about that symptom. You have to know which questions to ask and how to interpret the responses.

Lets go through a scenario:

A 39 year old female patient presents with mid to low back pain.
Symptom: back pain.

Some physicians will immediately lean toward an X-ray to rule out things. Some might automatically prescribe a muscle relaxer. NSAIDs are always suggested. Maybe ice, massage, or even electric stimulation.

Chiropractors are famous for immediately linking to a spinal subluxation and an adjustment will fix it up.

What questions should be asked?

Location of the back pain? How long has it been going on? Does anything relieve it or make it worse? All physicians understand the whole OPPQRST bit, but do they use it?

Is a kidney exam indicated? Gall Bladder stones? Lumbar disc derangement? Did they fall and break a rib? Diverticulitis?

The point I am trying to make is this; a symptom as simple as back pain can have many different diagnoses. There is any amount of testing that you can order to search for the correct condition. The true physician will minimize the cost to a patient by ruling out some of the differential diagnoses, and minimize any testing required.

Pain is definitely the most common symptom that encourages a person to seek medical attention. Low back pain being number one in the US.

The symptom of pain seems to be the one hardest to deal with, the hardest for a patient to overlook, but there are so many more symptoms that must be analyzed by a physician that is seeking a true diagnosis. Symptoms like, restless at night, weight gain, low body temperature, elevated pulse, frequent urination, and so many more are how the body expresses its state of health.

The body will tell a physician a story. They just have to listen to it. More importantly, they must not look at any patient with a predetermined mentality of what is wrong. This is how a misdiagnosis happens.

The most common complaint that I hear from patients is that their primary physician doesn’t really listen to them.

Has this ever happened to you?

It is probably not the physician’s fault. They work in a health system with too many sick people, and unfortunately, testing is profitable and major hospitals are a business. All business’s like making profit, so the more testing they order, the more money they make.

I like to be a cost effective physician, but even more so, I like to be accurate. It is not hard to come up with a diagnosis if you just listen, and ask the right questions. I order tests when needed. I order imaging if necessary. They are NEVER my primary source of coming up with a diagnosis. I run at about a 90% rate of using diagnostic testing to confirm what I already determined from a thorough history. I only test if my safe, non-invasive treatment plan is not providing the results I think the patient deserves. Physicians have to start being fair, and not going beyond their expertise.

The New-Start Difference

We analyze symptoms, or objective findings to conclude a status of health. The system is designed to save money on unnecessary testing for a condition that is indicated with simple symptoms. At New-Start, all we need to know is exactly how you feel. What symptoms you are suffering from. We use this to give you a very thorough description of your health status.

Stop Looking for Greener Grass….

I am sure you have all heard of the term, the grass is always greener on the other side…

I am going to change your perspective of this simple overused concept.

I hope you understand that this is all an analogy. I am not actually talking about turf management.

trent mozingo, dr mozingo, new-start solution, health, wellness columbus indianaSo many of us look over the fence at our neighbor’s yard and just wonder how did they get such beautiful, plush, green grass. We wonder what their secret is. We want to experience their grass on our feet.
I think a lot of this falls on the misconception of luck. The one will less green grass always wonders how the one with green grass got so lucky. What did they do to deserve that grass that is so emerald green?
We wake up and peer out the back window to find our yard, and with a disappointed gaze, we look over and see our neighbor, riding a bigger lawnmower than we have, mowing their beautiful green grass. All we want to do is trade lives. Trade houses, get their house and yard, and all will be as happy as they are. We constantly compare our yard to theirs, and wonder how they got such green grass. We have the exact same amount of rainfall. We mow at the exact same times, but yet, it is always greener over there and not where I am standing.

Why is it so easy for our neighbor?

Gut check moment…

The truth is… You will never have your neighbor’s yard. You are put on this earth with a yard. One you are responsible for. Stop wondering why others bare a healthier yard than yours.

Only you are responsible for the color of your grass or the health of your yard. Only you can make it greener. Stop wondering why someone else has the grass you want. Stop trying to bridge over and enjoy their green grass as your own. Stop blaming reason after reason for your lack of the prettiest, healthiest green grass.

Grass isn’t greener on the other side. Your grass is greener if you actually put the required work in.
Here are three steps to getting that greenest grass.

 Plant the seeds.

When I say plant the seeds, I do not mean walk out and throw some grass seed down and hope for the best.
This process is about understanding the goal you have in mind. You have to visualize what you want your yard to grow into. More importantly, you have to get the soil ready to be sewn.  If you set a goal without doing any pre planning, and preparing, then the goal is destined to set on top of the ground like the seed you just threw out to grow. You have to till the soil, prepare for the vision you have, and you have to give your seed a chance to set roots. Without a proper foundation, your grass will never prosper.

Money doesn’t grow on trees. Nothing of value is free. You have to work hard for everything and you have to put groundwork in with only a vision of what could be. Fertilizer is an investment, an idea, or a task that you have to do that you know could bare zero immediate benefit, but you have faith in it.

 Fertilize your yard.
Dr mozingo, dr moz, trent mozingo, new-start, newstart, chiropractor columbus in, wellness, health, weight loss, goal setting, meeting goals
So many of us set a goal of green grass but then just put it on the back burner and wait for it to miraculously
come to be. This is a slow and drawn out process. If you really want greener grass you have to go above and beyond the bare minimum to have success.

Yes, the rainfall is the easiest way to give your grass the water it needs to sustain life. We are not after mediocrity. We don’t want grass that grows. We want the greenest grass.

You have to invest in your dream. Nothing of value is free. You have to work hard for everything and you have to put groundwork in with only a vision of what could be. Fertilizer is an investment, an idea, or a task that you have to do that you know could bare zero immediate benefit, but you have faith in it.

Your dream of the greenest grass will not happen overnight. You have to keep the future of what you want in your focus. You have to continue to feed the dream with all that you can, invest all you have, and you have to give it time to grow.

Weed Your Yard.

Every single one of us has experienced a nuisance trying to corrupt the integrity of our responsibilities. These weeds will plague your beautiful green grass forever unless you build the courage to go out and remove them from your existence. It is not easy work. Weeding a yard can be difficult on your body and mind.

Ironically, sometimes the weeds are even green, but you know, they have the wrong intentions when growing amongst your grass. They are not really there to see your grass become the greenest it can be, they are only after the nutrients that your goals allow them to steal. They will reap the benefits of your hard work and fertilizer. They will mask themselves as trying to help, but you have to see past it.

Understanding what you have growing that will make your yard greener and what will not is crucial. But being able to get rid of the negative impacts is even more important.

If you understand this concept, you should be able to apply it to many walks of life. Relationships, careers, dreams, hobbies, etc. All you have to do is understand that you are responsible for your own fate. You have to put in the groundwork. You have to see your dreams through to the end. You have to make sure you are doing everything you can to give any dream or goal the chance it deserves to prosper.
